@heathur ,s good info again so I can mimic.
My rule of thumb is that if I'm not sure what a serving of something is to portion it, I google it!! A serving of carbs (while grain pasta, brown rice, sweet potato, etc.) is a 1/2 C, 9 cherry tomatoes is a serving, a serving of meat for a woman is 3-4oz, ummm I just find out how much it whatever healthy food I'm wanting to eat is, then I actually measure it out. I generally just google "How much is a serving of ___" & vuala! I have snack bags with everything portioned out so that we can grab it & go. We all eat this way, not just me. We buy strawberries & as soon as they're washed, they're separated into snack bags with 4 in a bag, same for blueberries, washed & measured out into snack bags with 20 in a bag, same for green grapes (15), raspberries (9), etc. When I make dinner I was weighing my meat on a good scale but after 3 mos I've gotten to where I can eyeball most, when I'm not sure though I weigh on my food scale. Dinner leftovers are weighed/ portioned into snack bags when we're done eating dinner. Same with anything else we're eating, we serve ourselves with 1/2 cups for things like steamed brown rice (DH has the best brown rice recipe for the steamer that is delicious), 1/2 cup veggies, & when we're done eating we'll use the 1/2 C to measure all of our leftovers into snack bags. Same with DD's whole grain gold fish. 55 is a "serving" but I measure out 35 in a bag, & I hate feeding her those because they're so processed but she is a kid & it's probably the worst thing she eats lol. Everything we eat is measured into snack bags though, so that when we're hungry we can just grab a snack bag & not have to sit there & measure out, because in all honesty I would probably try to guess & go overboard if it wasn't measured out. And a nutritionist friend from DH's hospital mentioned something to me that I've always kept with. When eating, eat your protein first, veggies second, & carbs last. Protein fills you up & eating it first will keep you satisfied longer. It really works!! 4951
