Peroxide kills healthy tissue..try antibacterial soap and water and cover it with triple antibiotics ointment and a bandage.

I'm not a medical person though so I could be wrong. 4951

Alcohol on an open wound? Holy hell! That's hard core pain.

I agree with @boobear, clean with soap and water and use anti bacterial ointment. 4951

Soap and water then some triple antibiotic. The ONLY time i would use peroxide is with an animal bite immediately and just once. 4951

Hit it with peroxide and rinse with rubbing alcohol. Ointments just **** off a wound you want it to dry out and scab. Experience: years of scraping myself at work. 4951

Isn't peroxide only for cleaning a wound out i.e. scraping on the concrete? 4951

I got rid of our hydrogen peroxide decades ago.  It does more harm than good.  I agree with others about soap and water... especially liquid soap.  Bar soap is OK as long as it doesn't have deodorant or other active ingredients in it.   I use alcohol on small wounds.  Betadine is also a great choice. Most people use too much Neosporin (or similar) on wounds.  A very thin application is good.  Too much and it seems to slow healing and can collect dirt. 4951

@friday1: Like others have said, about 10 years or so ago, peroxide was proven to decrease healing.  It actually eats good tissue as well as bad.  I would only use it in very specific circumstances and even then think about it for a moment.
