A ten year old child in Oklahoma was airlifted to hospital in Oklahoma City 12/27 after a vicious Pit Bull Attack while playing with a scooter in his yard that he got for Christmas.  The two pit bulls escaped from a hole in the neighbor's fence.  A neighbor held the dogs off the child by using the scooter until the Police could arrive.  The child face YEARS of reconstructive surgery from this vicious attack.  One of the Pit Bulls had previously attacked another person.  Both have been euthanized and the owner is facing fines for not having the required insurance on the Pit Bulls; not to mention he will most likely have a huge civil suit from these damages and hospitalizations plus future hospitalizations and surgeries.  If people are going to own this vicious breed then they need to understand their legal responsibilities when they decide to house a know vicious breed such as the Pit Bull.  This information was reported on yahoo.com

Do you ever get tired of doing the saaaame exact thing with different stories, @doddlebug?? Is this why you joined KDC? Solely for pitbull bashing purposes? Surely you get tired of this to some extent & lead a life outside of obsessing over the saaame thing daily. How's your puppy breeding job thing going? Hopefully you made more than the $100,000 you put into it. May 2015 be a blessed, prosperous, OPTIMISMTIC New Year for you! 4951

How horrible for that poor child.   The breed needs to be outlawed.  Trained or not they are too unpredictable.  To keep attacking the poster and not the breed is in itself very telling.  I hope none of you pit bull owners who have children or  neighbors milling about and your dog breaks loose and mangles them or god forbid kills them can live with yourselves.My neighbor has been warned.  4951

@blueyes:

I could find several dozen about Christmas trees that have killed if I cared to look hard enough. The world is a dangerous place & the internet is an endless source of whatever we want it to be. 4951

Maybe I should post pictures of a friend's child who was mauled by a pit bull.  Maybe I should just blow it off and say they are not ALL bad, right?  It's MY opinion and MY experience that this breed is detrimental and unpredictable and at any given time they can snap.Just my opinion and many other's on here who do not say anything. 4951

@blueyes:

Sorry for their child's trauma. My uncle had his finger ripped off by a chow as a child, & though I know another chow that snapped as well & they're also an aggressive breed, I do not personally think that all chows are bad. While I respectfully disagree with your opinion about pit bulls, I absolutely support your right to have said opinion. I also appreciate you not shoving it down everyone's throat though. You don't post about it daily & get nasty anytime anyone disagrees, & that's very mature of you, so thank you for that. Doodlebug bashes pits & shoves it down people's throats the same way Evan Carroll bashed Christianity & shoved atheism down everyone's throat, only doddle posts literally daily. Whether I agree with her stance or not, it all just gets VERY tiresome & sad after a while & I'd feel the same if it were pro pit. That's just MY humble opinion. Emoticon

And I totally just realized it, but my uncle who had his right ring finger ripped off by a chow at age 10 owns a now 7 year old pit bull named Buddy who he's had since he was born & is sweet as can be. 4951

Now to be fair, Pit breeds do cause a lot of damage when they do attack.So do other large breed dogs, Like labs, rottweilers, Dobermans and shepherds (just to name a few, not singling any one breed out).How ever the number of pit breeds in the USA, vs. the number of attacks is really low.Given the estimate of 10 million pit type breeds the number of attacks ia really low.High for dog breeds, but low over all.bicycle accidents cause more injuries a month than pit bulls due in a year.And quite frankly, injuries siblings due, cause more hospital visits than any dog breeds do.So lets chill on both sides. 4951

@fcabanski: True but then what...ban all dogs over 15 pounds because scientific studies proven over and over again that pits are not more powerful then other dogs their size. Then after we are left with all dogs under 15 pounds and we start seeing more infants torn to shreds ...yes it has happened...I know of at-least 5 breeds (probably more)under 15 pounds who have killed infants and small children. Do we then ban all dogs.Its sad anytime a child is hurt or killed but removing peoples rights over it is walking a very fine line. Children are killed daily over abuse at their own parents hands. so do we now ban parents. Children are killed daily by swimming pools. Do we ban them. Parks, baseballs, cars. guns,....the list goes on and on. people say hey but those things cant act on their own. No, but People are in charge of those things though and have a responsibility to make those things safe.I looked this story up on 4 sites, all of them said ALLEGED PIT ATTACK. I can not find pictures of the dogs. It was 2 dogs that were already by law on insurance because they had previously attacked more than once and had been by court labeled aggressive. Do you see the REAL problem here. In almost all these attacks the dogs have a history and because idiots don't follow the laws already in place you people want to make MORE laws that hinder the rights of good owners while the bad owners will still break those laws.Why don't those of you that want these dogs all killed or banned put your energy in fighting to have the laws already inplace followed by owners of all breeds  and help those of us educate the proper dog ownership. This is the way to stop these attacks of ALL BREEDS.You don't have to like the breed or want one, They are not even on my top 10,  but your walking a very fine line when you start supporting breed bans out of fear of any sort with no scientific evidence to back you up. Media hype and agenda with knee jerk witch hunts reactions is not scientific proof.
