I wasn't really ready for the holidays, in general, this year. They sort of snuck up on me while I was busy doing other things.

Halloween was easy....buy candy, buy a bottle of wine, set out lawn chairs in the driveway....easy to handle.

For both Thanksgiving and Christmas, I was caught in my own "OMG wait not ready" mini panic attack, and got caught up a bit in the holiday rush. No problem, pulled it together like a Pro and no one really ever knew the truth. Thank you Amazon Prime!!!

New Years was no effort at all other than, again, pairing a good wine with dinner.

But NOW, that it all is officially over and done, and the tree and decor will be coming down this weekend, I have to admit, I will miss the holiday season. i will NOT miss the uber annoying BIG LOTS commercials, but I will miss the holiday spirit, the lights, the scents, the Starbucks Chestnut Prailine Lattes (OMG yummy perfection.....sorry @CBP210). I will also miss the vacation blocks of time and the few slow work days of the year.

Until next season....

I am glad the holidays are over! Taking down the decorations this weekend. It goes up easy but it's an undertaking putting it away! 4951

@PedroDePacas: Me as well. But I agree with @donnatella - I will miss the overall spirit the holiday brings and the block of time off from work. as I'm about to login for the first time since the 22nd. Sigh. 4951

I wish I had enjoyed the season more.  But like you said @donnatella, it just snuck up on me this year.I was too rushed, way too many big events happened for us in early Dec.  I had to get ready for those, and by they time they were over, I just wasn't into the Christmas spirit at all.Not going to let that happen next year.Don't even think we went and looked at lights once this year!  And that is something we always have done.  I am always done shopping early in Nov.  Not this year.  And yes, Amazon Prime is a life saver! Most all my decorations are down.  I am sorting out what I am keeping and getting rid of some other stuff.I dread the schedules coming up for next week.  School has been rough this year.  The HS times are killing meEmoticon  Come on summer!Next year, I will enjoy the entire season!

@Fallon:
Hey don't you dare get rid of anything good without consulting me first! Lol!

I'm surprised too. I usually hate to see the holidays go, but this year I'm relieved they are over. I didn't feel like I accomplished what I wanted to. I feel like traditions were made out to be less important. Everything was a hassle and a struggle to do "normal" holiday things. So, I just want to move past it and hope next year will be better. 4951

I'm also glad the holidays are over with. I feel like for the last 6 months or so I've been just trying to get through the next holiday. There's still a lot of transition to come in the next several months, like deciding if we're going to buy or build a house, having another baby in April and figuring out how to be a family of 4, and actually having to move again by October.

Phew, it's exhausting just seeing it typed out. 4951

The holidays were so much more fun as a kid and young adult. As a parent it's lots of work, it flies by and then there's the let down of it's over. 4951

This year, for some reason the Christmas holidays were a little difficult for me. I do not know why, but every little thing took me down Memory Lane. I guess I just realized that my kids are grown ip now.
It was strange not having my oldest at Christmas Eve services or Christmas morning.
Don't get me wrong, I know that we are truly blessed and fortunate to have family to share Christmas with, but this whole getting older thing is not agreeing with me.
Also probably didn't help that my youngest graduates this year, hubby moved out of country this year, and this will be our last Christmas in this house.
To top my mood off, my son and his dog go back to Colorado on Sunday.

Now I have to go get some tissues & wine. 4951

I have to admit that this year I too will miss the holiday season. It went off without a hitch , nobody got drunk and everybody was pretty cool to each other. Say what you will, previous holidays have not always gone so well. I have friends and coworkers that told me about their holiday and theirs didn't go so well. 4951

@CBP210: No! Of course not! I want you to go there, order me a latte, then deliver it. I'm not getting out in this yucky weather.... LOL!
