How long do you wait after Christmas before you start taking all of your Christmas decor down? Kind of dreading that. 4951

Well I am a bit of a scrooge, if you put none up, you don't have to take anything down... 4951

We keep things up until New Years, then everything comes down that weekend.  I realize people get busy and wait a bit, but mid-January is pushing it.   4951

@donnatella: Mine are coming down as soon as I come back from my second trip to San Antonio.

When I was a kid, we would open presents Christmas morning, then help my mom meticulously put away ornaments in boxes while my dad took down the tree. It took an hour or two and then she vacuumed. Voila, no sign that Christmas ever happened. I hated it. I would have friends come over that afternoon to play, and they would ask, "Where is your tree?" I mean, it was still the 25th, so it was a valid question.

I like to wait until New Years Day (or later that week). DH would prefer that it never be put up in the first place. My argument this year is that his mom is flying in on the 30th for the marathon, and we're having a 2nd Christmas. I hope she does this every year! 4951

Probably today. Yesterday I set the storage boxes by the tree but never got to it. I put my tree up around the 15th and take it down around the 28th. I love Christmas but only for 2 weeks. After that it's time to get back to normal. Plus I buy real trees and don't feel its safe to keep them around too long. 4951

@Francita: With a real tree, I bet your house smells amazing! I have to burn pine scented candles to get that effect.

We do day after Thanksgiving to New Years weekend with an artificial tree. It's a lot of work and I want it to last for a while.

@donnatella:

I love the smell. Its part of the Christmas experience. Same with the act of picking out the tree with my kids, even though they have their own homes now. Unfortunately this was the first year they couldn't go with me, that was a bit sad. Hopefully next year we can go together.

Same with us this year. Christmas this year wiped me ou, though! We typically would follow waiting until January 6th - a Feast Day, but not this year, I'm thinking! 4951

I take almost all of it down on the 26th usually. I leave the wreath on the front door and the Christmas cards displayed on the staircase until new years day (so our nye part guests can see that we've been enjoying their cards). 4951

I love Christmas and the decorations too much to put them away! Lol If I can leave them up all year, I would in a heartbeat. I leave them until close to end of January just because. My hubby doesnt't care, he lets me be. Emoticon 4951
