Hubby, daughter and I were having Christmas Day breakfast when hubby asked if I wanted to be buried or cremated. I said just cremate me and dump my ashes. He asked if we should get a plot for our ashes so we will be together. I said "why ruin my afterlife?" My daughter and I laughed our heads off and his feelings were hurt. The conversation was hilarious. Merry Christmas and if I go missing, you guys know who did it! 4951

I would say get cremated. You would not have to worry about grave robbers. 4951

I'll be dead and won't care whether I'm buried or cremated...or where I'm buried, if buried, for that matter.

We are not a family that visits gravesites so no worries.  For me, take the cheapest route.  It was a funny time for a serious conversation so I did not take it seriously.  But I had to wonder if he was plotting my demise. 4951

I want to be buried, in anticipation of Jesus' return.

@SerenityNow: If Jesus can resurrect decaying flesh or dust , why not ashes?

Yeah.. us too. Why not? Our bodies are going to end up going back nature anyway, why prolong it in a casket? 4951

Cremation, but hedging my bets.  I don't want to be spread all over the place in the chance we're coming back.  No sense having to look for parts.  4951

Of course He can, burial is simply symbolic, a way of saying that I am in anticipation of His return. 4951

This quote is a succinct description of why I choose burial for myself, "While cremation seems to communicate a picture of the destruction of the body, burial better signifies lying to rest awaiting awakening. The death of a Christian is not the end life, but is rather a parenthesis between two lives, a life of perishable mortality and a future life of imperishable eternality. The body which is laid to rest will one day rise and burial better depicts this reality." 4951

"While cremation seems to communicate a picture of the destruction of the body, burial better signifies lying to rest awaiting awakening. You ever see what happens after you've been in the ground a while?  I think this is a case of quick versus fairly quick. 4951

When I die, I don't care what is done with my body. I won't be in it. ( I won't tell my priest that!) 4951
