Residents have been asking what's happening on the Northwest side of U.S. Highway 59 and Townsen. A large area of land is being cleared to make way for a new housing subdivision, apartments, and retail space. We were able to dig up a little information from Lake Houston Economic Development. It looks like this project is in the very early stages of concept planning and development:Map:http://www.lakehoustonedp.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/121210-Townsen-Landing-Land-Plan.pdfTextual Information:http://www.lakehoustonedp.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Overview-of-Economic-Activities-12-2014-11.pdfThere is also some speculation that a portion of the Grand Parkway may run through this area:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEaUywjjLsk#t=490I went over and took some pictures to give our users an idea:

Thanks for the info.  I was wondering myself. I know that area is higher than the kingwood side of the river, but is it really safe to be putting houses so close to the river?  Thats low land and part of the river's flood path.  4951

I don't think Grand Parkway will cross Townsend that close to 59 since it already crosses it at Community Drive. The YouTube video says it will cross Townsend Drive Future which is further west. At least that is what it appears to me. 4951

It seems that there will be an extension of Townsend that will meet and access the Grand Parkway further West 4951

I knew it would happen, but it's so sad to see the trees go away.  Humble will soon be all asphalt and concrete. 4951

There were rumors that a COSCO might be going in there. 4951
