Article in the Houston Chronicle stated that a Harris County man was severely mauled Wednesday by a Pit Bull and will probably lose his leg. People need to realize that, if you own a Pit Bull you need to have ABOVE standard fencing or containment for this breed due to their massive jaw power and strength. When they "escape and wander" someone almost always pays with their life, limbs or disfigurement. When I rescued a pit mix earlier this year at the corner of the 59 feeder and Kingwood Dr. She chewed through the maximum security chain link run I put her in. When I put her out to exercise in the yard she slammed through our privacy fence and ended up in the front yard. BARC was contacted to come pick her up BUT the Head person at BARC told me to just turn her loose as they did not have the manpower to come pick her up anytime soon. We kept her three weeks and through our ads trying to place her with someone who was experienced with Pit Bulls found her a secure home. I told BARC that I would NOT turn her loose as we have children getting off the school buses and walkers in our neighborhood; plus no knowledge of this pit's rabies vaccination. This is NOT a breed for the average suburban homeowner. Go to www.fatalpitbullattacks.com 4951

I know right...Pitbulls are such mean animals.  Look...LOOOK AT THIS.  He is taking up half of the bed.  Good lord there should be a law against these fierce animals.  Think of the children...THINK OF THE CHILDREN.Oddly enough the reason why I dont go to the dog park anymore is because of another dog who has no pitt in him...just an ***hole dog that starts fights with my boy.   4951

@IBertrand: The OP was not saying pits are such mean animals, only that people need to be more careful containing them so they don't get out and wander around, which is good advice for any dog owners.  Essentially, just a reminder to owners to be more responsible.

@IBertrand: OMG too funny!! My red nose gives me her baby face if I don't share the loveseat with her and then she likes to take up the whole space afterwards!

@buffaloglenn: yea she has to remind us of this on a weekly basis and many times nothing but an agenda filled media story to try and back up her agenda of all pits must die. She has gone as far as saying parents with them shouldn't have kids, no one in kingwood should be allowed to have them and the best yet, they should all be banned. She has an agenda to spread lies not education.

@doddlebug: What really disturbs me is how BARC told you to release them in the streets.

This is the song that never ends, and it goes on and on my friend - some people started singing it not knowing what is was, and they continued singing it forever just because.....(Credit to Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop) 4951

@doddlebug: Did you mean to say she pulled the fence loose at the bottom? I've owned 2 Pitts and 2 Amstaffs , knew several Pitt and  Amstaff breeders but I never heard of a dog that chewed through a chain link fence. I had a neighbor with a Beagle that chewed through my wood fence and I owned a Rottweiler that chewed away the siding and shingles from his doghouse but a chain link fence?  4951

@uneasyrider: willing to bet this didnt happen the way she posted....lol Poor dog was probably trying to get away from her show dog ankle biters.....Emoticon I have doubts she even rescued a pit. wonder if anyone on here from Barc can back her story up. And if she did why is she blaming a Pit for what a mixed breed dog did.
