I haven't seen any in Kingwood recently but I received this message in my inbox today:"What can be done about ALL the recent pan handlers in the front of Kingwood at 59 and Northpark! My first concern is it's unsafe for the community, I have actually had pan handlers get mad and hit my car or try to get in with me! Second they bring there babies and children with them. I don't want to be the person to hit an innocent child because of parents not being responsible! Third, if the above happens can you imagine how horrific it would be to the person who did it and then dealing with loosing everything you own once they sue you for everything! It can happen! We pay lots of money in HOA fees to keep a clean and safe neighborhood! Something needs to be done..." 4951

sounds like a slightly demented and histrionic person...and hoa fees have nothing to do with hwy 59 . unless the people are breaking laws, it is just a situation that they need to learn to deal with 4951

Most are on food stamps already. Either too lazy to work or panhandling is their job.

Most of the "Veterans" refuse help from the VA.

I'd honestly say 90% of panhandlers are scamming for drugs, alcohol, or just too plain lazy to work. 4951

 I noticed a few up there so I roll down my window & tell them to get a job. One young woman had a sign she to needed money to feed her kids. I told her she should have thought of that before spreading her legs for any man!

One had tattoos, piercings & a really ugly head of dyed red hair.  If you can afford tattoos, piercing & dying your hair you have money to feed your kids - It's just that your priorities are screwed up! They are scammers... I wouldn't give them a dime, just my not so nice words of wisdom. 4951

I was approached in the Kroger parking lot-WLH & NP: by a well dressed woman begging for money for her and her daughter. There is also a hispanic woman and her children who regular panhandle there and at 59 & NP. The ones that will actually walk up on me have frightened me. I have stopped carrying cash altogether.Some but not all have mental and drug issues. No one has the right to judge.  4951

I saw a family of five in the krogers parking lot with a sign and then another family of four over by the sonic/whataburger last weekend.

I think if a family of four/five has the energy to stand there and beg they also have the energy to get a damn job. I dont give them anything whether its Christmas time, summer time or whatever time. 4951

I see the same lady with her kids every day at the entrance of Kroger on 59. I don't say anything to her. I just shake my head. There are churches that give out food and clothes to people who are truly in need. Some even help with bills. St. Martha's is one of them. Problem is, they have to show documentation to prove they are truly in need. 4951

I saw a guy at West Lake Houston Pkwy and 1960 holding a sign that said "homeless, but not helpless" written in very nice block lettering.  He had on new jeans, new shoes, and a nice shirt.  THE kicker was that he was hiding his cellphone behind his sign texting.  My wife said she has seen the same sign and other people at various intersections around Kingwood/Atascocita.I figure it is gypsies. 4951

as the area gets more urban, you'll see more of panhandlers. they are just part of the cityscape. i am not sure whether it is illegal or not but i don't see any reason to get so upset.  if it offends you then like nancy reagan said 'just say no' 4951

@salth2o:
oh ive seen them......the worst was when they were on the corner during the firefighters "fill up the boot" day.

I mean come on....even scammers should take a day off every now and then! 4951

@PedroDePacas: The family of 4 moved to Kingwood Dr. across from the apartments at the 2nd  Randalls entrance.
