My dog had surgery on Friday and a few of his staples are coming out. What is the best emergency clinic around here? I really wish my vet had an answering service...ugh. 4951

There's one over by the Mall - I have no experience with them, however. Good luck and I hope your pup feels better!

The one by the mall .? Take a right at the street at hubby lobby back of building. Down on the right. Expensive but good! 4951

Maven, try some tape and put a cone on him.
You are going to pay $150 to walk in the door
I would try to wait. 4951

Try an appointment at Ataszazoo(?) they are open on sunday & not very busy. It's just going to the vet. Doesn't charge extra for sunday or else they are just plain reasonable. 4951

Wish I had seen the Atascazoo post before we went to the emergency vet. We were there for 3 hours and felt like they needed to keep our dog for a few more hours and do some bydrotherapy because his leg is so swollen they were afraid his main incision would pop open. They also are going to restaple his small incision. The amount of pain meds our vet told us to give him is not enough according to the emergency vet, they also said our vet put the staples in the incision. Needless to say I'm not super happy with my vet right now, especially since I just shelled out $3,000 for his surgery. 4951

Yikes. But they are a great group and know what they are doing. Your baby got the beat care there.
Are you picking him up in the morning? 4951

Do not use emergency center by Deerbrook Mall. Our dog was shaking, high temperature, and multiple vomiting. They ran a lot of tests, IV's, over night...and wanted a second overnight. $1,800 and could find no answer. I went in back and pulled my Yorkie out of crate, paid the bill, and headed for home. She was fine...and that was a year ago and we will not recommend them! 4951

@maven: If you don't mind telling us... what vet did the surgery. I don't want to take mine to that vet.

He didn't have to stay overnight. He just spent about 6 hours there. They were great. The doctors and tech were so helpful. They gave us a whole bunch of supplies for free and only charged us for the morphine shot and visit. It should have been a lot more.
My regular vet is Loop 494. They didn't perform the surgery though. They had a specialist come in and do it. My husbad thinks we should switch vets, but I have been really happy with them. Our foster dog had persitant ear infections that no other vet could diagnose and I finally took her to Loop 494 and the vet looked in her ear and said she had a yeast infection in her ears. They gave her the correct medicine and it was cleared up in a week after dealing with it for almost 6 months. So I know they know what they are doing. My dog broke his leg and he had surgery there with the same specialist and everything was fine. So I am going to give them a call this morning and talk to them about what happened yesterday. So don't count Loop 494 out. They have been our vet for about 5 years and this is the first time I have not been happy with them. 4951
