So, for all of my Tamale adoring peeps, this is for you....This past Sunday, the hubbs spotted HEB brand Tamales while we were doing our usual and customary grocery shopping, and scored a package of the Refried Beans variety....{And for my non-meat peeps, they also had a Jalapeno Monterrey Jack Cheese option as well....}I think the cost was a lil' over $4 bucks for a package of 12....@BooBear....And just for you, sweet Boo, I scoured the ingredients to make sure there was NO lard used..... Anywho, I just wrapped a few in a damp paper-towel, nuked them with the quickness for a minute and forty seconds, rolled them out of their husks, and grubbed down once they cooled....(No need for any roof burns....)...And dudes...  I have to admit, they were pretty good........The only negative is the Total Fat........And since I am personally battling Inherited Acute Pancreatitis, and need to be most vigilant about the Fat intake, this is my splurge for a while....   ...But, definitely worth a try......Nicely done Refried Bean Tamales, HEB...  Nicely done.... 4951

Thanks for the feedback on all these great yummies you score! I was wondering about those tamales, and since you're giving positive feedback, I think I'll give these a try... But I have to say the ones in Old Humble (I think it's called "Granny's Tamales") are really good as well! 4951

BooBear, did you like the french fries at McDonalds? Until they got health conscious they fried their french fries in lard. That's what made then so good. People complained when they switched to vegetable oil. 4951

@BooBear:  OK Boo that's your prerogative and we all have different tastes. Is it because of the taste or a healthy eating issue?

@BlissfullyRetired: it's because is a pig and pigs are nasty little creatures and it's all fatty and gross. I am not morally opposed to eating them.
I eat plenty of junk, I'm just odd.
