I didn't even know they could do that! But I guess they can operate on anything. Sorry to hear that you or someone you know is going thru this. Emoticon 4951

@Humble Mommy....I'm familiar that a surgical procedure may be necessary in order to remove dead, infected, or ill tissue surrounding the pancreas, if deemed necessary........I am actually, very unfortunately, dealing with Acute Pancreatitis myself.......Just got the second round of blood test results back yesterday, confirming that my Acute Pancreatitis is in-fact "Inherited"....(Damn you, bastard rogue genetics!)....I'm currently on a No-Low Fat lifestyle, with very limited protein and dairy......I go back in for another round of labs in 3 weeks, and if anywhere they're close to the current results, then my PCP advised that he'll be sending me to a Specialist....    As I am battling this terrorist "Inherited" ailment myself, you have my deepest sympathy for your health concerns....  4951

@herron1345:
They want to remove a mass the size of a small orange that is on pancreas.
Removal of half pancreas. Just wanted to see if anyone had dealt with anything like this before.
I'm 30 with 3 kids and the smallest one being 2 months old. Just don't feel like I'm ready for such a big operation but everyone keeps insisting that I should.

@Humble Mommy....First off, sweet chica, I am truly sorry for your health concerns........And especially with such a major dilemma as yours........Have you thought about getting a second, or even a third opinion?....How is your condition affecting your daily routine?....What is the criteria / issues that's prompting the surgery, if you don't mind me asking........And how will the surgery improve your overall health?This is a serious surgery, and serious questions need to be asked..... 4951

@Humble Mommy: So sorry you have to go through this. Is it the tail of the pancreas they are wanting to remove?

@sapphire: head

Every one of you sweet ladies going through these health concerns are in my prayers every day. It's a scary thing, especially when you are young. Just remember that God is handling all of your problems and concerns... all you have to do is give them to Him.   4951

@herron1345: not affecting me. I didn't even know I had it until they found it in an ultrasound.
The size of it is the reason for removal and it has grown by millimeters.
They think with time it will block the juice enzymes and it might grow into my spleen and stomach.

I do want to get a different opinion.

Just a scary decision to make especially since it doesn't bother me at all but then I think longterm it might or could turn cancerous and it will be a whole different story.

Humble Mommy It's always better to take of medical problems as soon as possible. You don't want it to get bigger.  It could even make recovery time worse if you hold off. And if it's growing the time is now!

Wishing you the best. You'll come thru like a trooper. 4951

@Humble Mommy....Knowing that my very own dad passed 10 years ago in January, due to Pancreatic Cancer, I'm definitely taking my Inherited Acute Pancreatic health concerns quite seriously, myself.......I would definitely recommend getting a second (and possibly third) opinion, but would do so in a quick, important manner.......You're very precious, irreplaceable cargo, beautiful chica, and must take your health as the uppermost seriousness........I will keep you uplifted in my thoughts, warmest wishes, prayers, as well as surround you in uplifting, healing light, my friend.......Please keep me (us) updated, and know that I'm (we're) here for you.....  4951
