Apparently a new grocery store is going to be the centerpiece of the new Main Street Kingwood development at W. Lake Houston Pkwy and Kingwood Dr. According to yourhoustonnews.com anyways: goo.gl/orDSyC I know grocery store rumors have been around for a while. I am wondering if anyone has a new lead on which store is coming here. 4951

@donnatella:  I think your talking about the new H.E.B. that is going to be built across LHP from the existing H.E.B.  It is probably going to be like the one in Summerwood.

@BlissfullyRetired:  I think that's it. I knew it was something like that, but I didn't care enough to go back and search the entire forum for it. 4951

@donnatella:  That's according to someone at H.E.B. that should know. They say that no contracts have been signed yet but I'm fairly sure that it's true.

Why would it be an HEB when there is a fairly new HEB on the same corner already? Central Market maybe, although they are owned by HEB also. Personally I would be happy with Central Market or Whole Foods, or any market that saves me from long treks into the city for special food items. From the land developer's website I found a plan view of the future retail complex marked with "97,485SF Grocer Pad". 1st choice for me would be Trader Joes, but I doubt that's happening.  I've only been to Central Market once and it was pretty awesome, but probably the snobbiest grocery store I've ever been to, lol.  4951

@MarT - Central Market is the snobbiest, but we still love it for the things you cannot get elsewhere. I always thought Trader Joe's was kinda like gourmet bomb shelter food. Most things dried, frozen, packaged, etc. It has been years since I visited one though. Maybe I should look again. 4951

@BlissfullyRetired:  I drive by there all the time and didn't realize that that complex stretched so far east/west.  I had been wondering how they were going to fit everything in that space.  Thanks for the pic.@Peabody:  While the existing HEB has only been there a few years, the building is at least 21 years old and is most probably leased to HEB.  It is limited to its current size.  It makes sense for HEB to own their own land/building to put in a larger store.  Plus, they can sell or lease partitions of the land to other businesses.

I have a friend who had lived in those apartments there and he was told shortly after signing the contract and moving in that they would soon have to vacate the apartments because they were going to be torn down though we didn't know why. Good to know now 4951
