First off, anyone can live anywhere they damn well please.  Please do not respond with a trained knee-jerk reaction about race.  This is a question about the choices people make.If you are not white, why would you move to Kingwood?   4951

From kindergarten through 8th grade, I went to school in Huffman. The entire time I was there there was 1 black family. The boy was in my grade and his sister was in my sisters grade. I dont remember if there was one younger than me. I always wondered that about them. Not that they ever had any problems, and we were all friends because huffman was pretty small back then. 4951

The same reasons that white peeps would move here........Duh.....- Close proximity to employment, shops, medical needs, and good restaurants- Nicely groomed / maintained neighborhoods- Walking trails, jogging paths, and scenic beauty with the trees- To be close to family- Excellent schools- Reasonable home price values- Golf (Some peeps really enjoy the game of Golf)- And of course, KDC  ....  I mean, we do have @BooBear here.... ...Pffffftttt.... 'Nuff Said... ....Life is all good with Boo in tha hood .... 4951

I'm not sure why you would ask a question involving race, answer it yourself with anyone can live anywhere they damn well please and then restrict my answer by saying I can't respond with a reaction about race. Aside from any racial issues, I would assume that they would move here for the same reasons that you did. 4951

@2danes:

I dont see a problem with the question..granted kingwood is not as all white or all black as out there.

There are still some schools, even in texas, that are still segregated. ..it is because of a choice that the minority has made not to move into a certain area.

Like he said, its more a question about choices than race. 4951

@BooBear: Then why even bring race into the question? why not just ask "why would anyone move to Kingwood?"

@BlissfullyRetired:
True. But it is a valid question as to why you would purposely move into an area where you or your kids would be in the gross minority...kingwood is more diverse so im not sure asking it about kingwood is going to get an accurate answer

@BooBear: OK, so it is about race. If you have ever had much experience working in a predominately black neighborhood, you know that the crime rate is high. Burglar bars on all of the houses (a firefighters nightmare) but necessary to keep the things that you have worked hard to acquire. I'm not saying that we don't have crime here in the Livable Forest but it's negligible compared to those neighborhoods. That could be one of the reasons that a black family would want to move here and I don't blame them.

@BlissfullyRetired:
And that could 've flipped and ask why a white family would move to a predominantly black area. Or why an Asian would move into a Hispanic area.

We still live in a racially divided time. Its getting better but its still not where it should be, where color or nationality doesnt matter.

And black people moved here to make you white people nervous. Like when you see a black guy walking near you and you suddenly grab your purse. Cracks me up. And of course the mexican people come here to mow your yard for you cause it would be crazy for a white person to mow there own yard. Its ok to have them here to do your yard but any other time you would think they are up to no good. Uppity *** Kingwood. 4951
