How can I get a small splinter of glass out of my finger? I tried tweezers but its so small and deep I cant grab it. I work at Verizon and a customer had a broken screen. Well my coworker accidentally dropped small glass shard on the keyboard and here i come to use the computer. I thought the keyboard electrocuted me...lol. Its been there for about 3 days and hurts like heck. I tried hot water, tape and squeezing it out. What happens if i leave it there? 4951

Maybe try draw out salve? They used to sell it at most pharmacies. I've also heard that putting Epsom salt on it and covering it up with a bandaid for a few hours will work too. 4951

glass is nonreactive so it is tough to get it out. it rarely will form a postule so you can squeeze it out. you'll probably have to use a needle and tweezers to get it out. you can also get a magnifying eyepiece from the dollar store. they sometimes sell them for 99 cents in a pack of three with different magnifications on each. and it helps sometimes to use some iodine or betadine in it because the glass will show up more with the stain of the solution 4951

Dip a needle in something to clean like vinegar, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, etc. dry the needle. Use a magnifying glass and start digging it out. It hurts like crazy but think what is better ten minutes of minor pain or a urgent care bill or wait until Monday and see a doctor. I go for the needle. The goal is to break any skin above it that may be locking it there and break the skin next to it, then use tweezers, the problem with glass is it breaks so be gentle pulling with the tweezers or u may have a bigger mess. Rinse it out a lot to get the fine glass powder (water and hydrogen peroxide mix good choice) 4951

I like white glue.  Poor it on and let it dry.  You should be able to peel it off after a little while.  Once you have done that then poor hydrogen peroxide on it to bubble anything left in there and sanitize the area. 4951

Lol! I say stuff like that to my kids all the time. My favorite is when an arm or leg are sore and they complain about how it hurts when they move it a certain way. I always respond with "well don't move it like that" 4951

My husband usually says "rub a little dirt in it and it'll be okay." Of course he said that to my daughter's best friend when she hurt her arm and we found out later it was fractured. 4951

If my son ever hurt himself and looked like he was about to cry I'd say, "tears get you sent to the hospital".

That was my way of toughening him up. 4951
