I buy one about every 6 years. Usually when the old one starts to crap out. I had an old tube tv for years, but then cable went to HD and had to upgrade. a few months ago, my bedroom TV was starting to die, the images were very dark and I could not get the color right, and the sound was off, so I went and got a flat screen,, now we can watch HD. I have flat screen in the living room I have had it for about 5 years, Not wanting a new one, but would like one. 4951
I buy a new one when one of mine dies. I have a 12 year old tube tv in the family room - it will probably go in the next year. Heavy as you know what! 4951
That describes me too. Roughly the same behavior for cars. When the repairs exceed car notes on a regular basis or the doozie of a repair is more than bluebook, it is time to car shop. 4951
If you look on the classifieds, there is a brand new 4K TV for sale! And a 42 inch TV for $500! For a TV, I'd rather get one on sale at a store and have the full warranty in place just in case. At our last neighborhood sale, my neighbor had a nice 32 inch tube TV on his lawn for free - NO ONE wanted it! 4951
We buy new ones when our old ones break. All of ours are about 4 years old because we had a wiring/electrical issue in last house and they all burnt up. 4951
The smaller TVs in the bedrooms, office, etc. get replaced more frequently as the prices for LEDs drop and technology improves. Â The main household TV is more of an investment so not nearly as frequently, and only when it starts to go out. Â 4951
About every 10yrs. but they have to break. The big tube TV that was in the living room we gave to someone so her grandchildren could play games on it when they were at her house. But it was on it's way out. There was a section at the top that kept getting darker & it was moving down the screen little by little. My DH got the sale of the century on Monday after black Friday a few years back. Then about 3 yrs. ago he bought a flat screen for the bedroom. 37' inch for less than $300. 4951
