Just wanted to let everybody know that DH and I both had our cars broken into in North Woodland Hills. We don't see anything missing other than some dice and a box of checks my DH had in his glove box (no, I have no idea why they were in there when they should have been in the house). Either way, I just wanted to make everyone aware so y'all can keep your eyes out. Hopefully this won't happen to anybody else. We do have a police report on file to cover our butts if anything else comes up missing that we didn't notice, so at least the police are aware that there is an issue and will be on the lookout as well. 4951

@bp2018: I'm sorry that happened to you but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't have to do with the people and their associates next to me.

@Burnsway: Watch your back where you are.  A lot of them come off the green belt from back there to the house next to me.  I see them daily.

@bp2018:

I'm sure you already thought of it and probably already did it but that checking account should probably be closed. They have your account and routing number now.

@squirtismyboy:
Thanks. Yes that was the first thing we did. After we noticed everything and called to get our police report filed. We even switched over the other account as well just as a percaution. This may sound terrible, but now I kinda hope they try something with the checks or account. Maybe the bank can trace it, and the people can be caught that way before they move on to someone else or more serious crime.

Were the cars left unlocked or did they break a window?  Just curious, since we always lock ours. 4951

seems like that happens a lot in your neighborhood. I suggest cameras and a shotgun 4951

@KTownTexican: Maybe you and your big gun should patrol and help a friend out.

@Nurse3:

Ours are usually locked too. We are guessing that they were accidently left unlocked this time, though, because they didn't break a window. Other than some scratches around the lock of DH's car, we didn't see any other damage. Needless to say, I now triple check to make sure they're locked. 4951

My son has a friend that was at the Kingwood Walmart today. She was putting her child in the car seat, turned around and her groceries were gone. 4951

@DLL:

That is so sad. I am sorry to hear that. Did she report it? I know it seems like more work than it's worth sometimes, but if everybody filed a report when something like this happens, the cops might be justified in bumping up their patrols, and if a suspect is ever caught, they may be able to link different incidents together and get a harsher sentence. 4951
