Anyone ever experience pain of the Gluteus Minimus for an extended period of time, weeks?  If so what did you have to do to get rid of it?  Loading Image... 4951

Are the X's suppose to be where the pain is? I get a sharp pain right there when I sit a certain way for extended periods of time. I just stretch my legs and the pain is gone.  4951

Looks like it may be sciatica. If you're having pain run down your butt and possibly down the back of your legs...chances are, it's sciatica. 4951

The x's are where it originates, but it radiates down my leg where all the red is.   For me its specifically in my hip and down the side of my thigh and calf, sometimes my leg gets weak.  4951

Pretty sure its not sciatica, that is more down the back of the leg.  Mine is on the side.   i just did some research on it.  My LMT told me it sounded like the gluteous medius or minimus.  My research revealed as much. 4951

The sciatic nerve is further down beneath your butt cheek. I discovered that during a deep tissue massage. When she moved to massage my "cheek" there I asked her what she was doing. Once she put pressure on that nerve, I nearly jumped off the table. The pain radiates many places that actually feel like the source, but a massage therapist or doctor can hit the spot and you realize its a tricky nerve that can cause pain elsewhere. 4951

@Francita....Really sorry that you're in pain, and having health concerns, my friend.........Did your LMT happen to give you any details as to what causes this, or any suggestions as to a possible remedy, or recommendations to ease the pain and duress? 4951

@herron1345: Thanks girl, Somewhere along the way I pulled the muscle, he recommends I go back to see him every few weeks.  LOL  Also exercise and stretching.  I am one of those individuals that is naturally very limber.  I can stretch that hip/leg until it just won't stretch anymore and still can't seem to target that muscle.  Its really been acting up because I've been non-stop for weeks.  i worked on my remodeling projects probably +24 hours this weekend.

@Francita, you just have to take a much earned break.  Sit back, and take a few days to just feel better.  Watch crappy daytime TV and eat junk foodEmoticon

@Fallon: Ha, I wish.  I don't see that happening anytime between now and Jan1.  I've already promised a friend I'd help her with a sheetrock project at her place for the next two weekends, then I have two rooms left to finish at my house.   I have a two story scaffolding assembled in my living room as I type.  It has to go away by the end of Wednesday.   Thanksgiving is here.

Yep! Yoga will help- also heat and ice- heat first, stretching then ice. Make sure you get some IT band stretching done- that's the bundle of ligaments, fascia that runs down the outside of the leg ( right where the red runs). I know a fellow instructor who had this bother her for almost a year- it was bad. Good Luck! 4951
