Hey there! I'm 15 years old and my family is moving to Kingwood this January. I have a couple of concerns... My first question is: Are there scorpions in Kingwood? Being a Michigander, I simply cannot wrap my head around the idea of scorpions. Question two: What other critters such as snakes or spiders should I be on the look out for? I am terrified of all of these new critters! Please let me know. Thanks!

@Tricia1220:
Hi there! I think your dad was on here earlier today, lol! Anyway, you'll love kingwood. KHS has a great drama program, and I'm sure you will make friends quickly. There aren't scorpions. We do have some snakes, copperheads, water moccasins and coral snakes, but I haven't seen one in Kingwood myself. We have Black Widows and Brown Recluse spiders, but you don't need to fear them! They both like to hide in and around rubbish and wildfires (so do snakes), and in dark seldomly disturbed places. I have lived here as long as you have been alive, and have never seen a Brown Recluse. I've only seen BW's outside or inside the garage. A rule of thumb to follow is to never stick your hand anywhere you can't see, like behind stuff in the garage or a shed, or rummaging around in a box from the garage. Most of us use a pest control company or do our own spraying to keep the critters away. We also have fireants. Unless you step on a mound, you needn't worry about them.
Welcome!
