About 2 years ago we bought a new maytag, one with digital buttons. It went out with in 6 months. when I checked the paper work it said because of safety issues they will do that when over loaded or threat of flood, clogged, ETC and you can take the back panel off and reset it. well I could never figure out how to do that and shortly after it happened I went into the hospital. While in the hospital my MIL called out a guy and he charged over 300 for a new pump of somesort. well with in 2 months it did it again. I called the guy like 3 times because the paper work my MIL gave me said he guaranteed it for a year. I never could get a return call and now its been over a year. Is there a company close by that will come out and not rip me off. I can get a working used washer for that price. I think it just needs a reset myself but I refuse to shell out another 300 bucks. 4951
Is it a front loader? If so have you tried to take the filter off and clear it? Or unplug it for a few minutes to reset the computer ? Most issues with front loaders is the filter under the machine. It's easy to take off and clean. You won't believe what can get stuck in there 4951
@fcabanski: Yes but I was in the hospital and she was trying to get it fixed for me and didn't know the warranty info and both the original warranty and the warranty from who she used is no longer good so boobear is correct...not the point now...lol 4951
@angiekaye: No I purposely didn't get a front loader even though I love the way they look and the idea behind them I knew of their issues. This is just your regular top loader, nothing fancy except it has the digital settings instead of knobs which seems to cause problems sometimes. 4951
When I moved here we had to buy a w/d. It was all push buttons - what a POS. The last time it went out I bought a new washer with dials it has one push button to start the load & now I'm having trouble with that. I would never buy push buttons again , give me the old dial type. It's a GE high efficiency. It washes great, if you can get it to start. 4951
