We skipped last year but had done it the previous couple.  It such a cool thing to do.There's a state park in Rusk at the other end of the line about 30 miles away.  We took our camper up there and made a weekend out of it so we could ride the last train of the evening and not have to make the drive back home in the middle of the night.  After the train ride we finished our night with s'mores by the campfire.  Wonderful lifelong memories for the kids. 4951

My kids would go on field trips on the train every year through elementary. We have never done the polar express though. 4951
