How do you like yours?

Skins on or off?

Red? Gold? Baking potatoes?

I was thinking of making red potatoes and leaving the skins on, but not sure if I should just do the traditional way instead. I don't want to disappoint. 4951

Gold, yukon potatoes. Skin off. Boiled (of course). Drain, throw in Kerrygold butter (from Ireland - you can buy it in Walmart and Kroger), salt & pepper, cover with a towel to let the steam soften them more. Uncover and mash. Yum yum! 4951

@SerenityNow....In all honesty, my friend, I've had mashed potatoes, whipped potatoes, smashed potatoes, skin on, skin off, etc etc, and I can say with most certainty, that however you decide to do your potatoes, they will NOT disappoint.......I like taters....

I personally LOOOOVE mashed red potatoes with the skin on.  Anyone who truly loves potatoes will probably like them any way you cook them... but as the "Strange Foods" thread indicates, there are some picky eaters out there.....  'Can't please everyone.  What if you make them the way YOU like them, and then if there are left-overs, they're all yours? With so many different opinions in the family, we ususally just make a casserole of cubed buttered and salted potatoes and put all of the standard toppings on top:  bacon, cheese, sour cream, green onion, etc.  It's not twice baked because it's not mixed in.  4951

I like the half potatoes, half cauliflower, using white potatoes.
Half the calories also (or thereabouts).
The cauliflower adds just the faintest bite to them, and I actually think they are better. Yet I dislike cooked cauliflower, go figure. 4951

we do red potatoes with small amount of skins left on.  They are better for you, less starch and less carbs. 4951

I think red have the best taste, skin on.

Add a large dollup of sour cream or cream cheese with milk and real butter. It's just the best but no one can detect just what the secret ingredient is. 4951
