Almost to work, on I-10 (west) between Dairy Ashford and Eldridge when some jerk wad comes barreling up on my left (I was in the next to far right lane) barely squeezes between me and the car in his lane in front of me, (looked likie he was shooting over to hit the last bit of the Dairy Ashford exit) with maybe 3-4 feet when a pickup in the right entering the freeway decides he wants the same place in that lane in front of me, and of course now this jerk wad has no where to go.Emergency braking situation.Did you know even with ABS you can squeal tires? 4951

@Wooderson: I usually leave about 6 AM and depending on the day (monday - wed. the tool road is quicker, Thu is a up for grabs, Fri 59 to I-10 is quicker) but about an hour average (50 minutes fridays, 70-80 Tuesdays).
Coming home is another story. I leave about 4 and the toll road is NOT an option, 10 - 610 is usually the best (about an hour average) 10-59 is usually about 5-10 minutes longer, the toll road is 30 minutes more typically. 4951

When I first moved here, I worked near Westheimer and Hwy 6.  I was in a carpool and we got our bosses permission to start work at 6:30am instead of 7am and leave 30 minutes early.  Our morning commute didn't change much (50-60 minutes), but our return trip reduced from 1.5-2hrs down about 20 minutes. Of course, that was 20 years ago and the roads have changed.  We used the Beltway/Tollway because Hwy 59 was still only four lanes (2 each way). 4951

I work downtown and everyone with my company is being moved to the woodlands. My group is scheduled for 3/6/15. We have to vacate the building completely by 3/31/15.

If i had a choice, i pick downtown any day. I'm not looking forward to driving to the woodlands or the "open office" floorplans 4951

Nope...townsen to 1960 to the hardy toll road. My company's new campus is right where hardy intersects with 45. 1314-242 adds on 5-6 more miles plus there is that bottleneck at 242 and 45 headed south.

Totally not looking forward to that drive. 4951
