I think you're using wifi, but that is weird to see both on there. 4951

If you have it set to switch automatically (android at least) if it detects a weak signal, you see that sometimes. I had to switch that option off because I didn't think it worked to my satisfaction. 4951

We went over the 50 g plan because my router was out to the tune of an extra $250. That was painful.

It is possible to be using both,   well for both to be on anyways, at that point there is no way to determine what is going through wifi and what is going through cell.   Just like if you had a laptop hard wired into your router and also were connected to your router via wifi.  Only in your case, it's is your phone service provider that gets to tell you what you are using and how much.    I do not know what kind of phone you are using but I would suggest searching for a free app that turns off cell phone data usage when there is a viable wifi connection.   That would be the best option.  Yes it can be done manually, but you def. seem the type to have something like that be automated for ya EmoticonAlso, if you (general you, not you you boobear)  use netlfix primarily on your mobile devices, go into your netflix account and then Playback settings, and set it to low,  that reduces the amount data that is used while you binge watch. 4951

I am going to ignore the "possible" insult there because frankly, its true, and ask for a recommendation on app..yes, android. 4951

Aww no insult, it just seems when it comes to tech stuff, you prefer to have ti just do it, instead of you set it up to do.  Nothing wrong with that.  Some prefer to have it done, other prefer to make it do it. As for a recc for an app, I have no clue, will have to see what I can find, if i had a smart phone I would just turn data off and use wifi only. 4951

Also verizon has an app that tells you how much data you are using.See of AT&T has one like it to monitor.I know mine looks like Brat's with the bars showing, but the 4G is not lite, and my Verizon program shows no data usage when wifi connected.What phone is that @boobear? 4951

@FoFa:

Galaxy III. On my Sony it had a thing to turn web off so i knew i was on wifi but this one doesnt. I can look at data usage but I dont know when that data is being used.

I may just go get a new phone today. Seems easier. 4951

From what I am reading, it has something to do with AST&T's Straight talk (whatever that is).It was recommended: (cut & paste)Just installed "Data Toggle Widget" by Bogdan Lazanu. Free, no ads, no permissions. Click data on, click data off. Perfecto. I'm on 4.3 4951
