I would say it is not an issue.  Just buy some iodine pills.  Only kidding!  Did you like Charlotte? 4951

Hey moving again.  We just purchased a home in Huntersville.  I had the same concerns about the power plants, but just had to get over it.  When we were there in the summer, part of the lake in South Carolina's Lake Wylie  closed because of high bacteria counts.  I believe it was due to the water treatment plant in Tega Cay.  If you have any questions about Charlotte, please send me a msg, I'd be happy to pass on any information I can.  4951

I lived near the Watts Bar Nuclear Power Plant in Spring City, Tennessee for awhile and never had any issues. After awhile, I got used to it and didn't even pay it much attention; it just became part of the landscape. 4951

I lived and worked near Concord, CA Naval Station facility where they stored nuclear materials and never had any issues although they mentioned not to eat fishes in ponds nearby. 4951

@JakeFromStateFarm:

No Houston does not have a nuclear power plant, Texas has 2 reactor sites one in Bay City located down the Colorado River, 100 miles sw of Houston. The other one is 40 miles south of Fort Worth in Glen Rose. 4951

@JakefromstatefarmYou probably confused Baytown with Bay City.    4951

I lived about 7 miles from the Waterford Nuclear Plant in Louisiana and worked just across the river from it. No problems.  I would live next to a nuclear plant while I would NOT live next to a refinery or chemical plant (even though I worked at them). 4951

A regular power plant oil or natural gas or coal based is probably worse on a day in and day out basis. 4951

@movingagain: Thanks, we are looking in Huntersville, Steele Creek and Fort Mill areas.  I like that Huntersville has a Whole Foods market and good schools.  Just wondering about the commute to the airport?
Let me know how you like there.  4951
