I just read that they are opening in Humble near Fastsigns - same shopping center area as Office Depot. 4951

Is it any better than some of the other gyms around? 4951

Not sure - too far away from Kingwood for me. My gym is a minute from my house. But thought some people on here might be interested. 4951

I love lifetime, it's been the best I ever joined so far. If anyone is interested let me know and I can send you through email a free week to try it first. Some of the other gyms are nice but no pool. I have to have a pool.....LOL 4951

I've heard that it's really affordable and you're not allowed to show off your muscles so everyone feels welcome there. You can't wear revealing outfits, or flex muscles in crazy poses or do things to show off such as slam weights together.  4951

@BJByrd: So is everyone required to have anthropometric measurements taken prior to registering so as to not "show off your muscles"?  One should also understand the acoustics of weights being loaded on a bar and their tendency to make noise when involved in inelastic collisions with each other, or the possibility that someone  lifting a weight sufficient to stimulate an adaptation that will actually facilitate development of strength and muscular growth make actually - get this - make a noise.  Many times it comes through a necessary technique called the Valsalva maneuver in which the glottis is held closed under a heavy exertion, which has an, evidently, undesirable side effect of producing a noise.  I'm surprised this would bother anyone over the noise of so many TVs or the gaggle at the juice bar.

Just saw a commercial that says it's $10 a month.I mentioned Planet Fitness because in a previous thread someone was looking for a low cost gym. Lifetime Fitness does not fit that requirement. 4951

Obviously it's not meaning people who do it as a natural part of their workout but more so about the guys who show off and do it on purpose as per clanking the weights. As for measurements, no.. their point is that everyone needs to feel welcome there and shouldn't be shamed by people walking around wearing skimpy clothes with the purpose of showing off.  4951

I belonged to Planet Fitness back in New York and really liked it as a no frills gym. No classes, but I loved the tanning and the circuit training (it was like curves) was really cool. Plus I think it was open all sorts of hours and never too busy. I paid $20 which included unlimited tanning and you could bring a guest for free., the base membership was $10.  Contract wasnt a pain to signup or cancel. I workout home now as I have a 2yr old and that suits me fine but I was a cool gym for my pre-kid phase Emoticon  4951

"I've heard that it's really affordable and you're not allowed to show off your muscles so everyone feels welcome there."Well, that rules me out from that club.  My muscles are so big, it's impossible to hide them. 4951
