"The question is," Brokaw said, "What are the Republicans prepared to
give the Democrats to meet them in the middle ground?  What are they
going to do about immigration? What are they gonna do about the minimum
wage?" 4951

Remember what Obama said when he won the election?When Republicans questioned Obama's stimulus, Obama's reply was "I won". 4951

Foxy, you're wrong.  Under the Rino charge led by McCain, the Republicans have been the party of compromise for over a decade.  Compromise, BTW, always means the liberals get what they want.Folks, don't listen to the "they're all the same" blather.  We suffer under bad leadership.  "They're all the same" blather encourages people to do nothing.  The result of that is more bad leadership.Learn about the candidates and issues.  You'll find out they aren't all the same.Revelation 3: 15-16  “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were
either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor
cold, I will spit you out of my mouth" 4951

@fcabanski: Actually they are all the same but we continue to vote them back into office. It's not a matter of doing nothing but not having any real alternative to self-serving deceitful politicians. We should stop trying to bring Democracy to other countries until we truly practice it here. Imagine having government of  the people, by the people and for the people,  it would be almost as nice as having "blind justice".

@uneasyrider:

I will disagree with you. Politicians ARE different but the voters are the same. They are the ones who keep electing the same ole politicians.

Voters aren't willing to make changes and vote for the one who's trying to make a change because they don't like change.

Basically...it's the voters who are the same, not the politicians.

"Actually they are all the same but we continue to vote them back into office."Actually that's not true.Ted Cruz opposed raising the debt ceiling.  He filibustered in the Senate, even though the Democrats and RINO Republicans had a lock on the Senate.  Ted Cruz isn't the same as overspending, big government liberals.McCain is a moderate.  But he wasn't the same as Obama.  He wasn't as bad a choice as Obama.  If McCain had won, we wouldn't now have:  Obamacare raising the costs of health insurance, higher taxes on cap gains, extreme regulations crippling the coal industry, and a host of other liberal policies, regulations and laws.McCain was not the same as Obama.Romney was not the same as Obama.It's true that the world is the world.  There are bad things in the world.  There are bad aspects to all politicians.  But some are better than others.  Small government is better than big government.1 John 2:16
- For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust
of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the
world.If you throw up your hands because the world is a mound of mud, and we're maggots crawling on it, then you won't recognize or embrace the good things that exist or the good things you can achieve. 4951

Today I heard someone on TV point out something I agree with.  I don't remember the exact words but it was along these lines:The Republican victories in this mid-term election are not a victory for the 2016 whitehouse. But it seems the voters are telling Republicans that we're giving you a chance.What the Republicans do over the next two years will affect the Presidential election.  In my mind, more gridlock is not acceptable. 4951

@jax: What you see as fear of change may very well be apathy among voters in many cases. And in those cases where a fear of change exist, it is being manipulated by those with much to gain. I do think many politicians enter office with the intent of making changes. Unfortunately, this country is controlled by a much smaller segment than we would like to admit and newcomers in politics find out in a hurry that they either get with the program or be ostracized.
