I'd love some recommendations for reputable Labrador or Golden Retriever breeders in the area. Thanks in advance! 4951

Not a lab or golden breeder but you need to ask if the parents have been xrayed (hips) for dysplasia. The labs shed also but not as much as the goldens. Go to www.akc.org and do some research on both breeds. 4951

@SoonersinTx...why not go to the  lab & golden rescues & see if they have one you could rescue it would make  a perfect match ....just my opinion. 4951

I am definitely going to check out the rescues as well. We want a puppy so my first thought was a breeder but a rescue is just as good. 4951

@doddlebug:

I own a chocolate lab and just lost a golden and a yellow lab in the last six months. They are my favorite breeds. 4951

For a lab puppy, go look at Elite Gundogs. I don't have their website, but if you google it their site will come up.
They have excellent field trial labs & they can point you in the direction of reputable breeders of both labs and golden retrievers (or any sporting dog).
They also have contacts with several rescue groups and breeders that have "started" puppies. 4951

i just adopted a golden from golden beginnings. Slightly long wait but our new golden is amazing. Glaicer goldens in magnolia is a reputable breeder. i adopted a dog from her last year and we are still in touch. She tells me all kinds of things she finds out like the raw diet. 4951
