Good mechanics aren't cheap and cheap mechanics aren't good...

@Mccrj:

I'm sure that is often the case, but not always. There are mechanics who will misdiagnose and charge you an arm and a leg to fix what isn't really broken. Then there are those who can easily pinpoint the problem and charge very little for a simple fix. It's called being ethical. They may be hard to find, but they do exist. And a forum is a good place to start because these honest mechanics, who pass on very little overhead cost to their customers, usually rely on word of mouth. 4951

@Mahm:
Yep, I do mostly agree but thank you's don't pay the bills. I do wish when these people post they actually include information about their problem and type of vehicle...

@Pidro
Crane Service Center on the corner of Hamblen Rd and Forest Cove Dr. Honest as the day is long and very reasonable. We have been using him for years and everyone I have recommended him to has been pleased. 4951

I had a guy around here change my timing belt for cheap. Did a pretty good job too. Not all cheap mechanics are bad. Shell on np wanted $400 bucks to fix a leaking top a/c hose. I went to the parts house bought the freon and crimp for $80 bucks did it myself a/c worked fine. 4951

My whole family has been using Chris's in New Caney on Antique Lane for years. I still use him even tho I lIve in west Houston now. Very trust worthy and he won't rape you on prices. He will treat you right. I had to have my car towed there just a few weeks ago thinking it was something super expensive since in felt like the back end seized up. It was something simple. My bill was $56. He had an opening to charge me an outrageous price for something that wasn't broken which unfortunately several repair places do crap like that. 281-689-3671.

Btw. Never go to that Shell on northpark for anything ever. and Kenneth is just okay but super expensive, for sure never buy tires at Kenneths, that was my mistake. Never again. 4951

Got charged 350 for a map sensor at some place on northpark. I've gotten a tune up brakes and rotors for less than that with warranty in Bellaire. But I live in Kingwood now, so I'm looking for a good mechanic 4951

@friday1:

Youtube is awesome. I replaced a water module in my fridge using the vids. I'm getting ready to remodel my fireplace by covering up the old brick and hanging natural stone using YouTube. I also rewired some can lights that kept blowing a fuse, previous homeowner crossed some wires. All on YouTube. 4951
