The very popular singer/songwriter Cat Stevens from the 70s converted to Islam in 1977 because he was extremely frustrated with the music business and other things. Â He changed his name to Yusuf Islam. Â However, by the 90's, he decided that no religion should prohibit music. Â He still practices Islam, but has returned to making music. 4951
