He was really pretty! Brown and furry and about the size of my palm. He really showed his stuff when we held a rake in front of him...stood on his hind legs like a gladiator! 4951

they are good to have around. tarantulas are relatively harmless to humans. you have to really push them to get them to bite and they eat bugs. 4951

Ahhhh running around the room screaming like a girl. I'm ok with small spiders like my orb weavers but a TRANTULA?? To hell with the rake- this calls for a sledgehammer!!!!!!! 4951

@Love2Run:

We had a Rose Hair tarantula as a pet when I was in junior high. It was red and brown and it was as big as my dad's hand spread out, It was given to me by the school bus driver as her disabled son couldn't no longer care for it. We kept it in a 10 gallon aquarium with a mesh top and kept an encyclopedia on top but that little rascal could still get out of it's cage. I only handled it a few times, kinda freaky. It would spin webs, molt and eat crickets. That sucker lived for about 5 years, it just upped and completely disappeared one day, and to this day nobody in my family talks about "how" it disappeared. 4951
