I tried Las Palomas for the first time the other day... I only ordered white queso to-go because I was having a serious craving for queso.  Since I'm on the hunt for a new favorite Mexican restaurant, I thought this was a good start (along with their salsa which wasn't bad); even the chips were great.  Now, I'm craving that queso again & can't wait to try out one of their entrees.  Though I will say, the best Mexican food I've had in a long time was at 7 Leguas in Conroe (off 105). Try it if you're ever over there. Emoticon 4951

Las Palomas is our favorite local Mex restaurant.  However, my wife brought home fajitas over the weekend.  The queso had been thinned out and the tomatoes in the pico de gallo were not ripe.  Everything else was good.  I'm hoping it was just an off day for them! 4951

I judge a Mexican restaurant based on their ritas and salsa, and green sauce if they have it..  If those are good, then the rest should be fine.  Then again, Los Cucos has great ritas and salsas, but the rest only gets mixed reviews at best.  Go figure.

I like different places for different reasons and it all depends on what I am craving at the moment.  4951

@donnatella: That's a good go-by.  I just started out with the queso & salsa to satisfy my craving.  I've been super disappointed with Rico's lately. We used to order there weekly & the past several times (every time), the orders were wrong, service was bad & food quality declined Emoticon   I don't really like Los Cucos, but they do have good salsa!  (Haven't tried the ritas).
@Retired_EngineerYes, hopefully they were just having an off-day! 4951

@alecktra:  Yeah, I don't go to Rico's or Los Cucos any more.  I've misbehaved in both places and I'm not quite sure they would let me back in.  It may be a while. 4951

If you like Los Palomas, check out El Rio on the corner of Hamblen Rd and Forest Cove Dr. The owner of Los Palomas owns and runs that restaurant. Same great food. He said that place was his dream and I would like to see him succeed.  4951
