Ebola is airborne, according to a new report by the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota. Researchers at the university just advised the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that “scientific and epidemiologic evidence” now exists that proves Ebola has the potential to be transmitted via exhaled breath and “infectious aerosol particles.”The working theory about Ebola transmission currently being uttered by the CDC and the agency’s director Thomas Frieden, is incorrect and “outmoded” according to the University of Minnesota CIDRAP report. “Virus-laden bodily fluids may be aerosolized and inhaled while a person is in proximity to an infectious person and that a wide range of particle sizes can be inhaled and deposited throughout the respiratory tract,” University researchers concluded.LINK 4951

I don't think that site or its article hold much water. Why create a panic for no reason?

@mm4731: sure it does, "infectious aerosol particles", cough on someone and it's "airborne" via the droplets...

I read that article last night and I all I can say is that you do not know who to believe.  Do we trust the CDC with their propaganda telling us it would not spread and we are prepared?  Their credibility has diminished  in my opinion. 4951

If this were true, wouldn't we be seeing more cases? What about all the people who were on the plane with Duncan, or his family members? 4951

Exactly.That website just reposts other stories from around the web without verifying sources.   Hardly a believable source on it's own.Stop spreading the unfounded panic.   Sheesh.

I think all flights in and out of Africa need to be stopped. Now. From what I read, London did this and there has yet to be a case. 4951

Up to 30 people are killed a day by drunk drivers and nobody bats an eye. Three Ebola cases and everyone is afraid that this is what is going to kill them? 4951

@iCarr: that's just a fancy way of saying you got spit on. Kinda like calling a money shot a organic aerosol of spermatozoa (sp?)

@mm4731: hehe.

@noel: I may be overreacting but I'm not into taking chances with my childrens lives. Yes, everytime we get in the car we could be killed but at least I have some sort of control to try and avoid that. I choose to not leave my house or take my kids out of the house during the most popular times for drunk drivers and when I'm out driving I'm very aware of my surroundings. I've talked to my kids about ebola and whats going on in Dallas since that is where were from and visit monthly. It was my 16 and 9 years olds choice to cancel our trip this weekend to the State Fair and no I did not "scare" them about ebola. We watched the news together and I answered their questions and gave them the choice. Do I think it can be airborne, possibly. How many times are you in the path of someones sneeze when your in large crowds? I've seen people whip around and spray their sneeze all over the place instead of covering their mouth. It doesnt hurt to be cautious with my precious cargo!
