@calliecat: Basically just that with recent concern of infectious disease, they wanted to let us know that the nurses are aware of symptoms and protocols and that they are continuously monitoring things and educating staff.They are asking parents keep their kids home if they are sick-DUH

We got one similar, via email. Also, it asked that if any parents had traveled to any of the affected African countries, to not visit the school during the 3-week incubation period. 4951

@Okiedokie: and yet isn't there a limit on how many sick days a child can have?  So what happens when a kid has medical issues and is out a few days here and there and then comes down with something infectious?

@Odin:

Absences with a dr. excuse do not count against the mandatory attendance. 4951

@Odin: Yes there is, and my child passes that limit by the end of the first semester every year.

@BooBear: Ok, I ask because I got one of those "attendance notes" last year even though EVERY absence was signed off by a doctor (including hospital staff) and submitted to the school office.  Really **** me off.

You know the schools loose money when our kids are absent. Thats why they make a big deal about them missing school. My daughter has missed 3 days this school year so far. If someone is sick she gets it. 4951

"Keep your kids home if they are sick." I wonder how much it pained the administration to type those words. 4951

@2danes: Knock on wood, mine has only been out once.  She has just been bringing whatever illness is going around home for the weekend.  Then I get sick with it during the week. Better me than her though.

You know that parents will not keep their children home.  1) They will be afraid the child will miss too much school work.  2) parents who work will not stay home because they have a job to go to.  So far this self quarantine is not working because people are being selfish. 4951
