@Grifconst: fyi, National Honor Society kids do it for free at the high school.
Tutors are $, but It's never a waste of $ if your child succeeds. If you do want a pro, I am pretty sure @fcabanski here on KDC is taking students for math.

Carneys tutoring - it is owned by a former teacher. www.carneystutoring.com

If this is for KHS, there use to be a list of teachers who tutored on their website, maybe under the counselor's section. If you can't locate it, maybe contact the school or counselor to see if such a list still exists. 4951

@topcat: I advise caution here, as my son went for some physics tutoring last year at the NHS sessions.  They may know the material but aren't necessarily good at helping others understand the material.  Some seem to only be there to get the credit they need.  This probably doesn't apply across the board, but just understand that caveat.

I would recommend my son but he lives in Bryan now. He tutors through Wyzant. He tutors a lot of college students for calculus and physics. 4951

I would recommend one on one tutoring instead of a group.  You definitely get more out of the session!  I have used the Kingwood High School Tutoring list before.   4951

We were looking for a math tutor for my daughter and her teacher sent us the KHS list.  They provide a great detailed list including what areas they tutor in (calculus, geometry, algebra).Received the list on Monday & already have a tutoring session set up for my princess. 4951

When I tutor the goal is to teach the student how to take notes and study - many students have no idea how to take notes in math class or how to study.  The goal is for the student to no longer need a math tutor.I also figure out personal issues that interfere with school work.  Today, "personal issues" usually translates to playing the video games too much. 4951
