I don't like to take time installing the free OS beta.  What happens at the end of the Beta?  Can you activate with a CD Key, or do you have to install the retail or OEM version? 4951

Cool Ray, I'll have to check it out.For those that want; here is a good walk-through installing it via VM. (W10 is still early early release so I would not recommend putting it on your main system. )From MS:
Download and install the preview only if you

Want to try out software that’s still in development and like sharing your opinion about it.
Don’t mind lots of updates or a UI design that might change significantly over time.

Really know your way around a PC and feel comfortable
troubleshooting problems, backing up data, formatting a hard drive,
installing an operating system from scratch, or restoring your old one
if necessary.
Know what an ISO file is and how to use it.Aren't installing it on your everyday computer.

We're not kidding about the expert thing. So if you think BIOS is a new plant-based fuel, Tech Preview may not be right for you.PCWorld article  How to install W10 on VM 4951

I was a beta tester for Windows 2000.  Never again.  I"ll wait.I don't particularly like Windows 8.1, but I've figured out how to do everything I need to do.  I always go directly to the desktop and rarely go to the Start page (with the tiles). 4951

the windows versions i recall ran:3.19598 & 98SEMilleniumXPVista78and now 10the good and bad alternated....so since there is no 9, 10 historically should be good but i would wait to verify that.for those who want to try 10, be careful where you get it. this is a perfect opportunity for scumbags to declare a windows 10 download and have whatever they have on their website riddled with malware to install along with the purloined os 4951

I have a couple of older desktops I utilize for just this purpose. I just run em and dont worry about it since it is not my primary computer anyway....I frequently try out different flavors of operating systems. Seldom windoze. Distrowatch.com is a good place to go to find out about Linux. I recommend trying it out. Many like Knoppix or my fav Suse can be run of a cd to see if you like it first. CD runs slower than a hard drive. Frequently on older laptops Linux runs far better than windoze.ALso Linux is as always best of all FREE! 4951
