I am not talking just about the supervisor,, but the actual boss, or hefe? The one in charge of scheduling.why do you do this type of crapmy schedule for future rotation has changed 3 times in 3 days. I finally told them to leave it alone, I have to inform my attorney of my schedule, TODAY. Due to child support and custody days, I have to plan out when I get the kids.ugh,,, why cant they just make up their mind and stick with it,,, ruining peoples personal lives, which they don't care about. They only care when affects them. hopefully its locked in now. 4951

They only care when (it) affects them.

@KTownTexican:  And that's the crux of the matter.  Sad but true.Good luck!

@PedroDePacas:  True, but that's not always feasible.  It probably wouldn't be as big an issue if the constant changes only affected him.  It's a problem because he has to schedule his visits with his child(ren).

Its just frustrating, when you have to make plans, but have to wait until they decide what the issue is, when they know EVERY YEAR, its the same time... 4951

I thought you said before you were in a union, seems they would have had to negotiate this

@Stealth83:
no,, this is actually the schedules and hours, and day off rotation. Union has nothing to do with this. They only deal with work locations. Of course Union had to wait for management to have the meeting. 4951

in order to be "fair" to everyone  a rotating schedule is necessary , it would not be fair if the same person had every week-end off & others never had a week-end off . When I made the schedules I asked everyone if they had any certain days or days they needed to have off or if there were certain days they could not work "ever" I posted the schedules 2 weeks in advance so if changes had to be met it would not be a problem . Everyone liked  the way I  did the schedules & for 2 years we never had a problem , then I was promoted & a new guy started doing the schedules & all hell broke loose (LOL)  leave it up to Mr. Know it all to screw things up (LOL) 4951

My hubby is a branch manager and his crew has a set shift. Some prefer graveyard and some prefer days...but to be fair, everyone works a split schedule, some day, some night and then days off (which some days land on a weekend, some don't). Holidays are worked by everyone. 4951

@Stealth83:  Sometimes, Unions actually make it worse.  When I worked in LA, the Union contract said that all overtime and call-outs on off hours must start with the craftsmen with the lowest seniority.  A couple of the younger guys had been working a huge amount of overtime and getting a lot of call-outs.  They asked if they could get a few days break from OT and COs. Ii agreed. Five minutes after I talked to the scheduler, the Union President was in my office.  That's when I learned about that part of the contract.  The young guys had to stay on the list.  I had to tell the younger guys it wasn't the company forcing the issue, it was their Union.

For years I was a trucking supervisor.   Always took into account their needs before I scheduled them.  Even when I was the assistant terminal manager I also recognized my staff under me and their needs.  (we were also a UNION company) 4951
