Beginning Thursday, Oct. 2, through through Saturday, Oct. 4, the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office will be conducting a “Warrant Roundup.” Once the Warrant Roundup period begins on Oct. 2, deputy constables from the Patrol division and Precinct 4 warrant deputies will aggressively target those defendants on its active warrant list. Asst. Chief Dep. Tim Cannon said, “With over 40,000 active warrants in our local justice of the peace courts, it is important for those offenders to know that we will be actively seeking those who persist in their efforts to thwart the justice system.”Authorities warn that arrests can take place at any location, including the defendant’s home, school or workplace. Additionally, a special task force will focus solely on locating those defendants with outstanding warrants. Why are you doing this?To close cases for which all other means of resolution have been unsuccessful. At this point, these defendants have rejected all efforts to dispose of their cases with the courts. What are my options if I find out I do have warrants? You may pay the fine and court costs, or post a bond and have your case(s) reset for a new court date. You may also seek legal advice from an attorney or you may turn yourself into authorities. If I come to court to pay, will I be arrested? No, defendants are encouraged to come in voluntarily to resolve cases during the Warrant Roundup in order to avoid the inconvenience and consequences of being arrested. If I want to pay for my warrants, what are my payment options?Payment options for warrants issued by Justice of the Peace court 4-1 and 4-2 are as follows:By phone: You may call our warrant division for information at 281-401-6255, the Justice courts at 281-376-5512 or 281-446-7191, during normal business hours 8 a.m.-5 p.m.In person: At either of the Pct. 4 Justice Court locations, during normal business hours 8 a.m.-5 p.m. You may also stop by the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s main office and pay by cashier’s check or money order payable to the court. For additional court, citation or warrant information visit www.jp.hctx.net. 4951
