I was able to find an old thread that I was going to post on to "bump", but it's locked.

I need a recommendation for foundation repair. Our front door is very hard to open and some of our internal doors wont' close properly. We also have a huge crack in our ceiling.Â

@aggiebutterfly: I had some of those same issues.  I got  quotes from foundation companies: Du-West, Jericho, Dawson and Olshan.  They all said i needed foundation repair ranging from $5000-$40,000.  Only one offered to to provide a preventative foundation watering system-Du-West for $3500.  All of the reps were sales people none were structural engineers.  So, i did some research and Found Michael Gray online.  He lives in Kingwood and is a structural engineer who specializes in foundations.  He has testified in many court cases as an expert witness in foundation repair cases.Â
So he comes to my house and says that my house is aging appropriatly and doesn't  recommend foundation repair.  He did recommend some preventative measures like a foundation watering system.SO i had Prime Lawn come out and install a foundation watering system for me and some landscaping.  Well its been about 4 months now and the cracks are much smaller and some i don't see anymore.  My doors close like they should now.  Micheal Gray charged like $450 if i remember correctly.  But it was worth it to save me a ton of money and possible damage to my foundation from the "repair" companies. I think Prime Lawn charged about $2000 for the watering system. regrading of the lawn around my house and a couple pallets of sod. 4951
