Do you any of you have a child that writes with both hands. I don't know whether to push her towards one or the other, or just let her figure it out on her own(assuming she will eventually). She's 4, so the handwriting is as expected..But it seems equal with either hand. The other 2 girls just grabbed a crayon with their right hand and it stuck. This one can't make up her mind. Being ambidextrous is quite a gift.  You should encourage it and don't let her lose the gift in the other hand once she decides the one she wants to use most of the time. 4951

My son uses both to this day, but mostly plays baseball with his left. Let her decide which one she wants to use.

My cousin's daughter started out left handed then she (the mother) would pop her (the daughter) with a ruler to make her use the right hand instead, so now she is right handed. 4951

Michael writes, golfs and bowls and eats left handed but shoots guns and his bows right handed. Most likely because his parents didnt want to spend the money for left handed weapons when he was growing up so he adjusted. 4951

I write right-handed, but can do everything else(throw, hit, kick, etc..) with both. Maybe she'll be able to do that?! It doesn't really matter to me. I just don't want to hinder her in any way.  4951

Just as most people are right or left hand dominant, most people are also left and right eye dominant.  Usually the two coincide, but not always.  I've known two left handed people that were right eye dominant so they adapted to shooting right handed. To check for eye dominance, look at and focus on some small specific point at least 10 feet away from you.  With both eyes open and focused on your target, raise one upraised thumb and move it until it covers the specific point.  Most people will notice that there are two images of their thumb but one will be more dominant than the other.  Then close each eye one at a time.  The one that has the thumb covering the point is your dominant eye.I'm right handed and right eye dominant. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: I remember a firearm instructor giving my dad and I a test like that when I was 8. He had us make a triangle out of both of our hands, outstretched in front of us. Once you focus on the object, you close each eye. The one that's open when the object is centered in the triangle is your dominant eye.
I am also right eye dominant.  4951

I'm right handed but extremely left eye dominant. When I shoot a rifle, I shoot right handed but I close my right eye and look through the sight with my left. 4951
