When does trick or treat night fall on in Kingwood? If it's a school night, will they move it to the weekend? Like Friday night? 4951

@LALEE:   I'll start my trick-r-treating as soon as you get a bag of candy.
  P.S.  I'll need an adress. Also, I prefer Reese's. Emoticon 4951

You know, I find it amazing that people, every year, think they can honestly move a holiday to another night that is more convenient for themselves and their own self-absorbed lives. Seriously, how shallow have we all become? I mean, really, the festivities are typically over for the kids in a couple of hours max, even at the local church festivals, and start to wrap up by 8:30ish for the little ones, 9:00ish for most everyone else when it falls on a school night. Are we really so uber self-absorbed that we can't take just a couple of hours to let the kids have a little fun and push bath and bedtime for them slightly for just one night of the year?

This actually is a serious concern for people every year, and it just amazes me.

Halloween is always October 31, convenient or not. Just buy the candy, grab a drink of choice, drop the tailgate, turn on the favorite tunes, sit out and visit with the neighbors and let the kids have their fun. That is unless, you are a registered sex offender...let's be real, now.

@donnatella:

In Center, tx, because its so rural and houses spread out the kids trick or treat around the town square. They always move it to friday evening if it happened on a school night. Ive seen a lot of areas do that. 4951

I agree with @donnatella on this. Halloween is the 31st. Trick or treat is the 31st. Let it be. And allow your kids to go. So many parents these days just don't get it. Go with your kids and examine the candy before it's eaten. And let them dress up like ghouls if they want. Its freakin Halloween! Not Disney character tribute day. 4951

Is a 2 year old to young to trick or treat? I don't really want the candy. Just thought it might be fun for to walk around with other kids and be cute in her costume. 4951

Also glad it's on a Friday, but I think we're going to skip Kroger this year and go right to the big houses. My 4 year old wants to buy scary decorations so he can scare people... I don't know if he knows that means no trick-or-treating! 4951

@foxymama: I think 2 is a fine age.  Why not?  It's about the experience or the memory more than anything.  She might not remember, but you always will. :D

A lot of towns always change the date of Halloween to a Friday or Sat. This was done when I was growing up.  It was moved to the Sat before Halloween every single year.  They still do this.

@Fallon:

This never happened any place I lived as a child. My dad was in the air force so I lived a lot of places. Probably why I can't wrap my mind around changing the day you trick or treat. Even here in Kingwood when my kids were young, it was always on Halloween. It seems like it's only been in recent years that people want to change it. I can understand a Halloween party being moved to the weekend before if it falls in the week, but not trick or treating. I guess I'm old school. 4951
