>> There is a right turn on red lane, Â and people seem to think its not a stop area. They think they can just blow through it.
@KTownTexican: There is actually a green arrow to turn right there when the light is red to go straight there isn't there? Which, I think, especially since it's by the HS where kids are constantly crossing there under the "no walk" sign, they need to do away with, cause legally, you don't have to stop when there's a green arrow.I'm sure you were crossing under a "walk" sign, I'm just saying, some aren't, and I agree, it's a dangerous intersection with no need for the green arrow.
@cador: Yes I waited until the walk sign and the noise indicator informed me to cross.yes there is a green arrow,, but when the cross walk sign is for pedestrians to cross, the light is red.also,, according to the law, before you make a right turn at a lighted intersection when the main lights are red, you must still make a stop, even if the green arrow is showing. You are also supposed to stop behind the crosswalk lines,, and most people don't. There are several times, I have had to behind carsthis girl didn't do either,, she just kept coming.
@KTownTexican: can you post this law you are speaking about because here is the tx codeCHAPTER 544. TRAFFIC SIGNS, SIGNALS, AND MARKINGSSec. 544.007.(c) An operator of a vehicle facing a green arrow signal, displayed alone or with another signal, may cautiously enter the intersection to move in the direction permitted by the arrow or other indication shown simultaneously. The operator shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian lawfully in an adjacent crosswalk and other traffic lawfully using the intersection. It's not saying the driver to STOP on green arrow before proceeding on the green arrow. It states to proceed and IF pedestrians are lawfully in the crosswalk then the driver must yield...so if the pedestrian is crossing on the no walk signal the pedestrian is in the wrong not the driver. and your saying she has a green arrow AND you had the walk signal, then yes the civic should had yielded but you didn't say that, you stated previously but when the cross walk sign is for pedestrians to cross, the light is red, Either the civic ran a red light and was in the wrong or you ignored a NO WALK signal and you are in the wrong, please get your facts correct...Â
@Mccrj: c) An operator of a vehicle facing a green arrow signal, displayed alone or with another signal, may cautiously enter the intersection to move in the direction permitted by the arrow or other indication shown simultaneously. The operator shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian lawfully in an adjacent crosswalk and other traffic lawfully using the intersectionok,, so I was not specific enough for you,,, when entering an intersection, with a light you are supposed to yield,, so that means slow down, be cautious, and stop if necessary. like I said,, I had the cross walk,, and yes she ignored the red light and basically ran it. So no she did not stop. the point is the stupid driver almost hit me because she was in a hurry, and driving like an idiot.want me to take a picture next time?as a courteous driver, you should slow down and stop even though there is a green arrow... she had neither, she had a red light, which means she should have stopped.
