Great news.  What an embarrassment of an AG. http://news.yahoo.com/eric-holder-to-resign--set-up-confirmation-battle-151530949.html   4951

Be more afraid of interim appointment

@Stealth83: said he would remain until next AG is confirmed by the Senate.

I'm glad he's leaving.  He leaves a legacy of lies and abusing his office.Fast and FuriousAP surveillanceAttacks on Arizona immigration lawsFailure to investigate IRS targetingMarc Rich pardon (under Clinton)Opposition to voter ID lawsand so many other things!  He has skirted, and sometimes directly opposed, our Constitution. 4951

Totally agree with both, however Pres Obama can make a recess appointment that won't need confirmation

@Stealth83: I'm sure the timing is coincidental.   Emoticon

Ann Coulter's book "Mugged, the Racial Demagoguery of the Left" is enlightening.  I am just on the section with Ann explaining the way the left turns all their causes into civil rights issues.  Eric Holder is stepping down, and NPR wrote an article about Holder's record as AG.  He "moved us forward" on a variety of civil rights fronts including with his "racial profiling guidelines" that  forbid law enforcement officials from assuming guilt because of someone's sexual preference or religion.Psst...religion and sexual preference aren't race.Then there's this from NPR:"Holder most wants to be remembered for his record on civil rights:
refusing to defend a law that defined marriage as between one man and
one woman; suing North Carolina and Texas over voting restrictions that
disproportionately affect minorities and the elderly;
launching 20 investigations of abuses by local police departments; and
using his bully pulpit to lobby Congress to reduce prison sentences for
nonviolent drug crimes."Liberals made changing the law to accommodate something else (gay marriage) a civil right.Holder, and liberals in general, decided voter ID laws that require all voters to show photo ID are a civil rights violation.  Get the picture?  Except when they were opposing real civil rights as applied to black people in the South, the left turns everything into a civil rights fight.Reduced sentencing for drug related crimes is a civil right.Investigations into abuses by the police department, such as when an officer in Ferguson abused a "gentle giant" by shooting the "gentle giant" as he attacked and then charged the officer, are civil rights issues.  Criminal thugs have the civil right to assault store clerks and to attack police officers.Who does Obama want to replace Holder?  Another "civil rights" crusader who will throw the law and justice under the bus to further liberal causes. 4951

I suspect Holder's resignation is perfect timing, giving him some breathing room, as the supreme court is expecting at least one replacement in the next 2 years, I bet a dollar to donuts obama nominations holder for the supreme court... 4951

Who better on the Supreme Court than a civil rights crusader like Holder?I don't think it's a coincidence that Judge Judy is paid over 200x more than the supreme court justices.  She never ruled that a tax isn't a tax. 4951

@Mccrj:

When Holder was originally confirmed, obama had a super majority. The reason nothing has been done, and that is both good and bad, the last couple of years is because of the split government. He will not be able to just roll someone in as AG or a Supreme Court Justice. He may be able to just appoint someone I to Holders spot but he wont be able to do anything with the Supreme Court. Especially if republicans take the senate. Obama has yet to learn how to play nice with everyone on a regular basis. 4951

he is now being called the worst AG in history.  He was way too arrogant for the job from the beginning and brought more racial division in our country.  Never in history has the DOJ department gotten involved in a state/city level investigation and look at Ferguson, MO  there is still riots happening today!I am also scared of who they will get to replace him.  I kinna hope its the arizona woman but we shall see...  4951

There is not a president that could not resist the power that would come with that. 4951
