I have 1.5 year old Black lab-Springer Spaniel mix. She well behaved. Besides being a little mischievous. Right now for exercise I ride my bike and let her run beside which she loves exept I get tired before she does lol. Her only real problem is that she can get very distracted by people and other dogs. Not sure how to work on that. If anyone has any suggestion on a good place around here or sport where she can have fun and let some energy out I would love some ideas. Im open to dog parks but not a big fan as they tend to carry alot of parasites and viruses. 4951

It's good that she's young. You can try having distractions on purpose while you go for a walk, and reward her if she pays little/no attention to it. Bring tiny scraps of treats, rather than giving her a whole treat every time she does something right. You can also try to introduce her to fetch if you haven't already, or frisbee. Remember to reward her every time she does something you want her to do, then eventually she won't need a reward anymore, just a "good girl". 4951

One of my dogs is obsessed with frisbee. Unfortunately, she's pretty toy aggressive too. And she's been known to not like other dogs. So no dog parks for us!

The good thing is that frisbee is a good way to tire them out with minimal effort on your part!! 4951

Don't forgot about leash laws, I can't stand dog owners who think laws and rules don't apply to them... 4951

Nancy, ignore Mccrj. He/she is the Debby Downer of this forum. Emoticon Never anything nice to say.Anyway, if a dog doesn't like water, I wouldn't suggest forcing it in. They can easily freak out and drown, or if it's a shallow pool, they'll be terrified forever. Maybe try taking walks near a pond and allow her to step in the water if she accidently does. Or try to throw a frisbee or toy into it and see if she'll get it. 4951

There is a dock, if you know where Raffa's is. It's all on a pier, and you can park on the opposite side of the lake, and take a walk along the coast. 4951

@jack1: really, ok, I guess laws don't apply to you either...if you want to go outside COH limits, by all means go ahead and let the dogs run off leash...
