@TXSunDvl: I don't think that's the case. They have different coins and bills in Scotland, but they are the same currency. GB has said they will not allow an independent Scotland to us the pound.It looks like it's a moot point anyway. The NO appears to be in the lead by 6 points with 1 hr to go.Â
@notfromhere: Scotland does indeed have its own currency which is legal tender in Scotland but not England. Â This is really a technicality though, as English merchants accept the Scottish pound even though they don't legally have to. Â The Scottish pound is 100% backed with UK Stirling reserves, which means it trades on par with the British pound. Â Great Britain cannot stop an independent Scotland from using the pound if Scotland so chooses, however this would mean the Scots would have no control whatsoever on monetary policy.
