You can do it.  Really nothing to it.  Turn the water supply off under the sink...should be a valve for each line...unscrew the nut where the line connects to the faucet while you're under there.  Those lines are probably going to have water in them so have a catch pan and a towel at hand.  Once you have the water lines off there will probably be a second nut on each feed that holds the faucet to the sink.  Take those off and swap out the new gear.  Reverse the process to put them back and it's always a good idea to use some teflon/plumber's tape when you connect the water line again. It's ridiculously easy.  The only difficult part at all might be reaching the connections around the back of the sink from underneath. 4951

I think while I am getting it done I may want a water filtration system put in.  For that I would want someone with more skill than I have.   I can use a drill and sometimes a wrench but that's about it.

@Stealth83: depending on the system, that's pretty easy, too.

If you ever put together something with Legos, then you can install a faucet. 4951

Hire a professional. If you need any adjustments, you can call him back. I wouldn't mess with plumbing. 4951

Faucets are a real pain the in the butt. Technically they are not difficult, however the reality is there is always something that makes it difficult. You turn the valves off, water still flows. The nuts are countersunk into the bottom of the counter, requiring a special tool to get to them. It's always something.Shower, that is a whole new ball game because it is usually behind the enclosure, and there is usually NOT an opening to access it.However if you only want to change the head and handles, that is not all that hard if you get compatible parts. 4951

It is not hard.  Youtube is your friend for most of this type of stuff.  I've changed faucets and shower heads in homes ranging from 10 to 80 years old.  Yes, there may be a couple of snags along the way, but don't underestimate your ability to think things through, use a little ingenuity, and maybe some interwebz searching if it's really that tough. 4951
