I was living in Montana at the time and just had a friend drop off his son for me to take to school  that morning.  He came in and said " have you seen the news yet?"  I turned it on immediately.  I was on the phone right away to try to get a hold of my mom since she worked at a Navy base in Florida.  Of course I couldn't get through.  All the lines were busy for hours.  I thought we were in the middle of WWIII.  I was watching when the second plane hit.  I think I threw up at that point.  4951

I was inside the Shell chemical plant in Deer Park doing field work. It came over the walkie talkie. When we found out a second plane had hit we knew it wasn't an accident. We quit our field work and went into the admin building where they said over the loudspeaker that they were shutting things down and all non-essential employees had to get out of the plant. 4951

I was watching the whole thing from the street in N.J. where I worked.  Everyone was outside watching in the whole town because our view was the N.Y. skyline.  I will never forget the sound of the people when the second plane hit or the stunned silence when the building collapsed.

I used to work in 7 World Trade Center which fell later in the day.  I had a family member who walked home just to get out of the city.  That was one of the worst days I can remember. 4951

Driving to work downtown. My office was on the 48th floor of a building named after one of the big oil companies. Needless to say, I was not excited about going up.

Was living in Vegas. Working at McCarran Airport Las Vegas. The company I was working with was a big ground handler there when the attack occurred. I ended up working until 6:00 in the evening as planes were flying into Vegas to park per the FAA. The airport was packed we were parking aircraft where ever we could.
The strangest thing was when it was done the erie quiet in Vegas. Only sounds you heard were F16's and F18's from Nellis flying cover over Nevada. 4951

Night before fell asleep with the tv on, Not sure why I feel asleep with the news channel on.  Woke up, still bleary eyed, in time to see the 2nd plane hit the tower.   Took a little while to realize what was going on, thought I was on HBO or something.      4951

I was at my office in Cairo, Egypt, and happened to be on the phone with one of our Houston office staff, when the first plane hit.  Then, when the second plane hit he told me I better check the news.  We packed up and got the message to head home for the day and await further instructions.  All of our security procedures were activated and we basically stayed home from work for a couple days.  It was tough being so far from home, we couldn't get home of course even if we wanted to, but my extended family was all safe in Texas anyway.  My father in law got trapped for his job somewhere in Arkansas or Memphis or something and had to rent a car to get home, with no commercial planes flying at the time.   After a couple days, we went back to work, kids went back to school, but what a shock that day was. 4951

I was walking into the office when the credit manager came out of his office and with a white face said, a plane just hit one of the twin towersl. Not realizing what he was talking about because I mostly knew them at WTC or World Trade Center buildings I kinda rushed by him and said wow or something. When the credit manager came back out and announced the second building and said the WTC, I went weak and collapsed in my desk chair.I couldnt breathe. I iimmediatelymmedialtly called my fiance's family to make sure they were ok in NY. Then I called my kids and mother. We all joined hands in the office and began to pray with tears streaming down our faces. I am crying now remembering that day. All of our lives are forever changed because of those bastards that killed all of those innocent people on that sad day 13 years ago. God bless them all and their families. RIP and God Bless America. 4951

I was in school and I remember teachers walking out and going home so I jumped in the car and went home.
I could not get a hold of my mom because cell phone calls were not going through.

watching the news and seeing people jumping out the windows was so unreal and the daycare part broke my heart.

I was a little skeptical to take the kids to school today but i did knowing they are in Gods hands. I think they should have this day off as a day to reflect on this tragedy that changed our life and lifestyles forever. 4951

I was driving to work from Atascocita to the Medical Center and turned on the radio to hear "for those of you just now tuning in..." They were talking about the first plane hitting and speculating as to why and how this accident had happened. Then they announced that the second plane had hit and that it was clearly no accident. I arrived at work to find all of my coworkers in the conference room gathered around the TV. We watched stone-faced as the first building fell. The news station kept replaying that, so when we saw the second building fall, we thought it was a replay again. We soon realized that it wasn't.  After a while, we disbursed and went back to our desks. We were all calling family members or discussing things amongst ourselves. I walked over to the main building to deliver some paperwork, and I was invited to stop and pray with a group of hospital employees. I did. When I went back to my desk, my boss was telling everyone that we could go home to be with our families if we wanted to. I was a single mom with a 2 year old. I couldn't wait to get back to her and give her a big hug.My sister who is a flight attendant was on vacation in Hawaii. She was scheduled to come home the next day, but had to wait nearly a week to book another flight. For the next year or so, I would call her frequently to check on her. I couldn't imagine having to enter airports and board planes every day after that. I would have been a nervous wreck. 4951
