For those that have kids in daycare, do they take a rest time after lunch?  If so, how long is it and at what age do they no longer have them? 4951

It was roughly a 1 1/2 to two-hour nap in the afternoon. Once the child starts Kindergarten, no more naps. 4951

Yes. 2 hours or so. I don't know when they stop, but it's probably once they start going to school?!  4951

My kids went to MDO at KW FBC. I remember the teacher in  the 3-4 year old class telling me that they would start the year with nap time, but if most of the kids didn't rest well then they would have a quiet movie time instead of nap (and usually the nappers would fall asleep anyway). 4951

My 2 yr old is at MDO and nap time is from 12:45-2:00...but he hasn't napped there yet, really only naps in his crib. I feel bad for them, I'm hoping he will just adjust to it. 4951

I should have clarified that I was asking mainly about 4yr olds.  4951

@KT0721:

A 4 year old should be offered a nap. If they don't sleep consistently they should be allowed to do something quietly without disturbing the others who do nap.

When I was teaching I would have all my kids lay down and at least rest. If within 20 minutes or so they weren't asleep I'd let them get up. 4951

If they are 4 and in all day preschool or daycare the state requires a 2 hour nap.  I had this discussion with a daycare director last year.  My child was at another daycare and I thought the teacher was being lazy and let the kids sleep rather than having to teach them.  I also asked an Humble ISD prek teacher about this and she said that is why they only have 1/2 day  prek.  She said by the time you have the state mandated meals, nap/rest time and required recess you only gain about 20-30 minutes of instructional time even though you have the kids for 4 more hours 4951
