I have a car in the classifieds, I really need to sell. Dealers are rip offs. so if anybody is looking or knows who is looking, pass my info along. 4951

We are getting ready to do the same thing with hubby's car. We will need to get it sold quickly.
Not looking forward to that! 4951

What I utterly hate is when someone says something is new... "new tires" then says has 10,000 miles on tires. Sorry tires are not new.... 4951

You could also see if there is a bulletin board or online forum at Lonestar college. 4951

I took my Mustang in to CarMax a couple years ago & wound up with a grand more than I hoped to get for it. I was really surprised. 4951

I would try Autotrader.com. I sold my last car on there. People who look on that site are searching for specific cars and are serious. I listed my car on the classifieds here and got about 50,000 views over 2 weeks. Everyone just complained that it was overpriced and had too many miles. I ended up selling to a man that drove in from Mississippi to purchase it! 4951

@jls2: yes, this.

Carmax offered me $1500 for a Durango that I sold for $5000 on my own. Places like that are the car equivalent of those "we buy gold" places. They're convenient, but you lose tons of money.

Of course, selling on your own is optimal. However, there are risks involved. Letting strangers into your world is the biggest. Consider all your options, 4951

I ended up selling my 03 Accord for $7000. I wanted about 7800 but I already had my new car and was going to have to insure both. The dealer had offered me $4500. That is typical. I spent 10 1/2 years babying that car and was not going to give it away! 4951
