I have an old recliner I use for the dog.  She likes it, but the covering is all ripped up.  I keep an old sheet on top of it.  I was going to purchase a slip cover, but I thought it might be nicer to have a pet bed that's lower for her.I see memory foam pet beds that are expensive.Any recommendations?  I'd like something large so she can be comfortable.  She's 45 lbs. 4951

There is a nice dog bed that I use for my dog who is 75 pounds. It's at Walmart, and it comes in many different patterns and colors. It's rounded off with fluffy edges so it kind of hugs them. I think it was about $20-$30. Not too bad, and they are very durable. I had one that lasted for a year and the only reason I threw it out was because my dog got too big for it, and I've had this current one for almost a year as well. 4951

I bought outdoor lounge chair pads at garden ridge that fit perfectly in a large crate. If they still have them out, they should be on sale. 4951

Kroger in Atascocita has some for 7.99 And they're big enough for my husky to fit on easily. There weren't many left though! 4951

@lola: That's what we use. I search for them on CL and when I see one cheap or free, I snag it. Emoticon
@fcabanski The one that uses them the most is our Buddy. He's a 75lb Rott/Hound mix, with bad joints.  4951

@vinbert: I saw those as well. I was tempted to buy one, but my dog doesn't seem to like beds without edges to snuggle in to. But they are a pretty nice size for being so cheap.

We bought two of the memory foam (no truly memory foam, more like thick egg crate foam). We have had them for about 4-5 years now. After a few months the rounded beaded edging (don't remember what it is called, someone who sews would know) started deteriorating. Then the nylon (or whatever plastic type fabric) started fraying. We are still using them, but the covers are so on their last leg. Plus each has a huge dish in the middle (so now technically they hug) from the foam being compressed permanently. Now these were like 100 bills (give or take) apiece when we bought them, the orthopedic dog beds. And they are large to fit Bree, and both dogs love them. 4951

They were 15.99 when they first put them out there. I've watched the price drop over the last month. I'm tempted because the husky won't sleep in a bed that's been washed. If it gets ucky, and I wash it in any way, its on her no list. IDK... lol 4951

I have a large "memory foam" dog bed from petsmart. It's almost 2 years old. The cover is still in good shape. I need to go get new foam cut for it though, as there is a huge dent in the center. My dogs argue over who gets the "good" bed each night. I only bought 1 because the younger dog was still in the habit of chewing his beds up. It was on sale around Christmas time (great time to buy dog beds!!) For around $60 I think. Maybe this year they'll both get new beds! 4951

We used to have something called a "poof chair", that was basically like a bean bag chair but filled with shredded foam (like those old track padded bags of years gone by). The dogs LOVED it, and it only took a lift and poof to fluff it back up.It was just too large (we bought it for our daughter originally).Wish I could find one or two of those for the dogs. Just smaller. We pulled the foam out, and put it in large pillow cases (like 5 king size in this case) and you could remove those and wash the denim cover. Then just stuff them back in. 4951
